Refrigerator Problems and Solutions

Refrigerator Not Working:

Generally this would mean that the electronic control board is defective and needs to be changed.

Reduced cooling:

This is usually as a result of problems with the thermostat, fan motor, electronic and temperature control board, start relay, compressor and start capacitor. If the compressor, start compactor and start replay are defective they should be assessed and replaced. The condenser coils may also be clogged and need to be changed.

Refrigerator Does Not Dispense Ice or Water:

This is common when the dispenser control board becomes defective. In rare cases, the problem may lie with the main control board or door switch which may need to be replaced.

Refrigerator Light Does Not Work:

If the light still does not work after replacing the bulb, the light assembly may be malfunctioning and should be replaced. In some cases the light board, light switch or the door switch may need replacement.

Refrigerator Not Making Ice:

This may occur if the ice maker switch, icemaker mould thermostat, ice maker assembly, door switch or water filter, are not working and need to be replaced. If the evaporated coils are frosted over and need to clean the refrigerator may also stop producing ice.

Excessive freezing:

Due to problems with the defrost control systems such as the main control board, temperature control board, air damper control assembly, temperature control thermostat, defrost heater, evaporator coils and other control board sensors.

Strange sounds:

Your refrigerator may begin to emit strange sounds if the condenser fan needs replacement or cleaning, if the evaporator fan motor is jammed, if the compressor is worn out, if the water inlet valve needs to be replaced or if the fan blade needs replacement or cleaning.

Fluid leaking:

This usually occurs if the defrost drain is blocked or frozen and needs cleaning or if the water tank assembly needs to be replaced. Leakage may also occur if the water filter housing is broken or incorrectly installed and needs replacement. If your refrigerator is self-defrosting and has a drain pan that is broken then leakage may also occur.

Refrigerator Is Warm:

This happens when the defrost system malfunctions and needs to be replaced. If the defrost system is defective, air will be blocked from entering the evaporative coils to cool down the refrigerator.

Refrigerator Runs Constantly:

This may occur if the electronic control board was damaged, if the compressor is worn out and needs replacement, if the door seal has been damaged or if the fan motor is running slowly and should be replaced.
